Overview
The CES 18 series is based on Ceph Reef. It replaces the legacy CES 25.03 naming scheme with a Ceph-based versioning model where CES releases follow the upstream Ceph base version.
New name: CES 25.03 is now CES 18
CES 25.03 and CES 18 are the same product under two different names. Both are Clyso Enterprise Storage built on Ceph Reef 18.
The 25.03 version number was based on the release date: 25 for the release year 2025, and 03 for the month, March. That scheme caused confusion, because the number resembled a Ceph version but didn't identify the Ceph release inside the product. CES 25.03 contains Ceph Reef 18.2.4.
Starting with CES 18, CES version numbers follow the upstream Ceph release that the product is built on. The CES major version always matches the Ceph major version:

Here's what the new name means for your deployment:
- If you run CES 25.03, you're on the CES 18 (Reef) release line. The name change alone doesn't require any action.
- An upgrade from
25.03(Reef 18.2.4) to18.2.8-1(Reef 18.2.8) is a routine upgrade within Reef, not a major version upgrade. - The CES 25.03 documentation remains available in the CES documentation archive.
